Gardening at St. Mary’s: Nurturing Nature and Young Minds
At St. Mary’s, we are fortunate to have beautiful, expansive grounds that include a thriving Forest School. Our Gardening Team is made up of two children from each year group, from Year 1 to Year 6, who work together to grow and care for a variety of plants and vegetables.
This team is supported by dedicated volunteer gardeners from our local community, who join us on Friday mornings to share their expertise and work alongside the children. Together, they plant seeds, bulbs, and tend to crops—teaching our pupils valuable lessons about the planting process and where their food comes from.
We are always eager to welcome new volunteers to support our children in this hands-on learning experience. If you can spare a few hours on a Friday and would like to get involved, please contact Mrs. Clinton, our Deputy Headteacher. Your time and knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
