Our Commitment to Beliefs at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School
At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Beliefs are a fundamental core value that is deeply woven into every aspect of our school life. As part of our BREW curriculum—Beliefs, Rights, Environment, and Wellbeing—we ensure that the spiritual and moral development of our pupils is at the heart of our educational experience.
Our commitment to Beliefs begins with our Catholic faith, which guides our mission, values, and daily practices. We provide a nurturing environment where pupils can explore their faith, develop a personal relationship with God, and learn about the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through regular prayer, assemblies, and participation in liturgical celebrations, our pupils are encouraged to live out their faith in their daily lives.
Beliefs are integrated throughout our curriculum, not only in Religious Education (RE) lessons but across all subjects. We encourage pupils to reflect on their beliefs and values, understand the significance of their actions, and respect the beliefs and values of others. Our approach promotes a strong moral foundation, teaching pupils the importance of empathy, kindness, and respect.
Additionally, our various pupil groups, such as the Faith in Action Team and Mini Vinnies, provide pupils with opportunities to put their beliefs into practice. These groups are actively involved in community service, social justice initiatives, and charitable activities, helping pupils to live out the Gospel values and make a positive impact both within and beyond our school community.
At St Mary’s, we are dedicated to nurturing a community where every child feels valued and supported in their spiritual journey. By placing Beliefs at the centre of our curriculum and school life, we aim to inspire our pupils to grow as compassionate, thoughtful, and responsible individuals who are well-prepared to contribute to the world around them.
