A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part in our giant walk from Barnes Park to school each term. The children who have walked (even just part of the way), scooted or cycled to school at least once a week for a month have enjoyed collecting the ‘walk to school’ badges. Many of the children took part in the ‘walk to school’ badge design competition organised by the ‘walk to school’ charity ‘Living Streets’. We were delighted to hear that Lorenzo, one of our year 6 pupils, was one of the winners of the competition. Children collected a badge with Lorenzo’s design on in October.
Many of the children entered the ‘Green week’ competition organised by Stagecoach. The children completed a variety of environmentally friendly activities such as litter picking during their half term holidays and the staff at Stagecoach were very impressed by all of their efforts. Staff from Stagecoach came to talk to us about their new gas bus and presented the winners with prizes. Each class enjoyed exploring the gas bus and the winners were treated to a short ride on the bus.
During ‘Road Safety’ week we joined forces with Sweeney Miller solicitors to promote safety in the city. Staff from Sweeney Miller challenged the children to design posters to spread the road safety message. The winning poster was designed by Emelia in Year 6.
