We have been trying hard to reduce the energy we use in school in order to stop climate change. The whole school took part in ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ and the Action Team held an assembly to tell everyone about energy and climate change and ways we could save energy in school.
Each class now nominates a different ‘Power Ranger’ (energy monitor) once a week to make sure electrical appliances and lights are switched off when they are not in use. We also try to make Fridays ‘Switch Off Friday’ and where possible we try not to use electricity on a Friday afternoon.
Members of the Action Team carry out regular spot checks to see which classes are trying to save energy by remembering to switch things off. Each week the top energy saving class is awarded with a trophy.
